Ten Thousand Things by Ashlee Beals

About the ten thousand things

ahead. The ten thousand things

of you. I want to know each one,

sit and marvel that I live a life

where you're okay

with giving them to me.

I'll dream that each fragment

is a stone, and with each stone

I'll build a house

at the edge of the blue woods,

so that when you come

trudging through the night,

with the heaviness of

this life bearing down,

I'll be there

in the doorway,

ready for your hands

to fill the twin wells of mine.
